Building Information Modeling (BIM) changes the digital planning and coordination of construction projects. But what does BIM mean for landscape architecture and what possibilities does the method open up for planning, execution and maintenance?
In this episode, Host Rahel Küng talks to Regina Matt, landscape architect in a BIM-specialized office. Together, they classify the basics of the method and shed light on its application in landscape architecture.
All episodes of NachWuchs Landschaftsarchitektur can be found on ourpodcastwebsite and anywhere there are podcasts.
In this episode
- BIM as a method and information model
- Digital inventory models and collision testing of lines and root spaces< /li> Planning software, IFC and shared data environments
- Information in the model and its development through the planning phases
- Digital twin, BIM to field, digital construction site processes as well as drone flights and point clouds to compare planning and built condition
- BIM in Studies and Opportunities to Get Started
People
- Host: Rahel Küng
- Guest: Regina Matt – Landscape Architect i n an office specialized in BIM
Tips
- Start with small projects. Try BIM first on a manageable example, such as a private garden with a bench, a green area and a few shrubs. This way, you can get to know the method step by step.
- information directly to the objects. Add details to objects in the model, such as material or plant species. According to the conversation, this is also possible in a 2D planning program via the property fields of symbols.
- Use existing learning and training opportunities. To get started, there are short YouTube explainer videos, offers such as the Green BIM Summer School and training courses from buildingSMART. Students can also ask for suitable courses or further education at their university.
